Staying Connected

After forty-two years of service, Jesse Northcutt (ThM, 1981) officially retired from Greater Europe Mission in February of 2023. Since then, Jesse has continued to serve as an elder at Swords Baptist Church in North County Dublin, Ireland. In 2024, the faculty of the Opened Bible Academy in Europe (started by two DTS graduates) asked Jesse to serve alongside them. Jesse spent 2024 serving as the captain for his local golf club, and he continues to have fruitful kingdom conversations with those in his community.

Dave Hagelberg (ThM, 1983) and his wife, Barb, are moving to Mexico after forty-one years of serving in Southeast Asia. The pair continues uploading YouTube content in Indonesian. Their latest books include The Theme of Persecution in the Book of Revelation, released in Hindi and Punjabi.

Richard Griffith (ThM, 1987; PhD, 1990) recently produced his 100,000 PowerPoint slide in Arabic, supporting slideshows for forty-two courses at the Jordan Evangelical Theological Seminary.

After years of service in Russia and the Czech Republic, Jonathan Moorhead (PhD, 2008) is now serving as a pastor at Geneva Bible Church in Switzerland.

Alisha Smith (MACE, 2023) teaches Bible and biblical worldview via a high school World History course for on-level and honors students. She also writes curriculum, serves as the department head of the history and Bible departments, and trains faculty in classroom Bible immersion across all school disciplines.

In Memory

Reverand Lawrence R. Katz (ThM, 1965) ran into his heavenly Father’s arms on November 30, 2024. Known for his contagious love for people and God’s Word, Larry lived an exuberant life, saying yes to Jesus. He pastored for more than sixty years, serving as the senior pastor at Immanuel Bible Church in Bedford, Massachusetts; Barcroft Bible Church in Arlington, Virginia; and Grace Fellowship in York, Pennsylvania. In an age characterized by celebrity pastors, Larry remained a giant of a different sort throughout his life: humble, kind, funny, true to God’s Word, a faithful husband, and a life-giving father. His wife and ministry partner, Jaqueline, preceded Larry in death. Two of their children, Laurie Katz McIntrye (MACE, 1989) and Dan Katz (ThM, 1991), also graduated from DTS. It brought Larry great joy to watch them and several of his grandchildren follow in his pastoral footsteps. Additionally, Larry never stopped cheering for the Dallas Cowboys!

Johnny V. Miller (ThM, 1970; ThD, 1980) went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of eighty-one. Johnny leaves behind his lifetime sweetheart of sixty-one years, Jeanne, their two children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Johnny served as a sports reporter for the Phoenix Gazette and Arizona Republic, a high school English teacher, a missionary to Sweden, a church planter and pastor in Cypress, Texas, and a professor and president of Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. It brought great joy to Johnny to see lives transformed by the gospel.
