Media Arts and Worship//Arts Week 2024

Join the Media Arts and Worship Department as they welcome their founder, Dr. Reg Grant (ThM, 1981; ThD, 1988), as their plenary speaker for Arts Week! Dr. Grant will deliver chapel messages at the Bailey Student Center on October 15 and 16 from 11–11:50 a.m. We invite all DTS students, faculty, staff, and alumni to participate in the festivities.

Events

Our Media Arts and Worship student group, Eikon, will feature art created by our students, staff, and faculty all week long from October 14–18 in the Bailey Student Center. We would love for you to attend the artists’ reception on Monday, October 14 from 6–8:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 15, we encourage all students to share their gifts and talents in our annual Student Showcase Open Mic. The event will take place in the Bailey Student Center from 6:30–9:00 p.m. All are welcome!

After Wednesday’s chapel service, Dr. Grant will sit down for a Q&A session facilitated by Dr. Sandra Glahn. Students will have the chance to interact with Dr. Grant as he shares lessons learned from over four decades in film, theater, and publishing. We will provide a Chick-fil-A lunch for the first fifty attendees.

Thursday evening, we will host a screening of Finding Neverland, a biography portraying the life of J. M. Barrie, best remembered as the creator of Peter Pan. A discussion and Q&A with Dr. Grant will follow the film, hosted by the department’s newest professor, Dr. Brian Chan. Refreshments will be served at all events (except chapel).

With Deep Gratitude

Dr. Grant retired from his position as the Media Arts and Worship Department Chair in July. As the visionary behind the program, we are forever grateful for his contributions to the seminary and campus culture. He encourages students to dream big and helps them turn their creative concepts into reality.

We hope to see you at any or all of the Arts Week programs as our seminary celebrates one hundred years of teaching truth and loving well!
